How to make a rate card

A rate card does one job: it answers a brand's first question (what does it cost?) with your full price, including the lines brands most often price at $0. Five things go on it. Nothing else needs to.

The five things on the card

  1. Prices by deliverable. A Reel, a Story set, a feed post, a UGC video, each with its own price. One blended number for everything teaches brands to buy the most expensive thing at the cheapest rate.
  2. At least one package. The bundle you actually want to sell, pieces listed, one total. Packages are how creators move a negotiation from one post to a programme.
  3. Usage and exclusivity lines. Usage priced as a percentage of the video (65% for 90 days in the model), exclusivity as a percentage of the content. Printed on the card, they stop being favours.
  4. Proof you may show. Brands you have worked with and results you have permission to print. Proof is a claim about your work, so it stays yours to switch on.
  5. One way to inquire. One address or one form, answered fast. A card that ends in three contact options ends in none.

The packages pattern, priced

The worked example used across BravoDM (a skincare creator in the 25k to 50k band). Price the pieces, then the package:

One package, priced line by line
PiecePrice
1 Reel$700
1 Story set (3 frames)$300
90 days of usage rights on the Reel$450
Package total$1,450

Get your own pieces from the free pricing calculator or the rate tables for your size, then publish the card where brands can find it without asking. A BravoDM rate card is a public page with the packages, the proof you choose to show, and an inquiry form that lands in your deal pipeline: make yours free. The thinking behind every line is in how to price a brand deal.

Rate card questions

What should a rate card include?

Five things: your prices by deliverable (Reel, Story set, feed post, UGC video), at least one package with the pieces bundled, usage and exclusivity as their own priced lines, proof you are allowed to show, and one clear way to inquire. A card missing the usage line invites brands to price it at $0.

Should my rate card show one price or a range?

Show your number, the middle of your range, as the card price. Keep the floor (your number x 0.85) and the strong ask (x 1.25) for the negotiation. A card that prints a wide range teaches brands to open at the bottom of it.

How much should a package cost?

Price the pieces, then the package. The worked example used across BravoDM: 1 Reel $700, 1 Story set $300, and 90 days of usage $450 come to $1,450. An optional package discount (the model uses 10% off the content lines) is a choice you switch on, not a default brands assume.
