What should you charge?

How much should you charge for a sponsored post? Start with the whole deal instead. Price the deliverables, the usage rights, and the exclusivity, each with its own line and its own price. Nine questions, no account, no handle, nothing stored.

This calculator is the pricing guide made interactive. The thinking behind every number is in How to price a brand deal, and every assumption the calculator uses is printed further down this page. If a word anywhere here is new to you, Brand deal words, in plain English translates the whole vocabulary the same way.

Platform

Not sure? On Instagram it is roughly your average likes plus comments on recent posts, divided by your followers. Your Insights page shows it.

If you know it, in percent. It overrides the level.

Used for the per-1,000-views sanity check, and to price YouTube videos.

1 Reel$375

Fair price$375

Brands often offer below the fair line, usually by leaving usage rights off the quote. Here is the math to answer with.

One thing that is usually missing: brands often ask for ad usage after the post performs. If they do, it is a new line, not a favour.

An estimate from a public framework, not a promise of what any brand will pay. Your rate card is yours to set.

A counter reply you can paste

Thanks so much for thinking of me for this. My rate for this package is $375. The breakdown: 1 Reel $375. If that works on your side, I can turn the first draft around in [your timeframe]. Happy to talk through any single line. Thanks again!

How these numbers work

No hidden formula. The calculator prices the parts of the deal, in this order, and every step is a starting assumption you can argue with. That argument is the point: a brand can question a line, but the math is on the table.

Step 1: a base rate for one feed post, by follower band

Under 5k$75

5k to 10k$125

10k to 25k$275

25k to 50k$500

50k to 100k$800

100k to 250k$1,500

250k to 500k$2,750

500k to 1M$4,750

1M+$9,000

Step 2: formats, as multiples of that base rate

Short video (Reel or TikTok)1.4×

Carousel1.1×

Feed post1.0×

Live session (30 to 60 minutes)1.0×

Story set of 3 frames0.6×

Single extra Story frame0.25×

UGC video (no posting)0.7× short-video price

YouTube is priced differently: a dedicated video starts at the higher of 2.5× your band base or $20 per 1,000 typical views, and a 60-second integration is 0.35× of that. This is the roughest assumption in the model, and it is labelled as such.

Step 3: niche and engagement adjust the content lines

Beauty and skincare1.2×

Fashion1.2×

Health and fitness1.15×

Food and drink1×

Travel1×

Parenting and family1.1×

Finance and business1.5×

Tech and software1.5×

Lifestyle1×

Comedy and entertainment0.9×

Gaming0.9×

Other1×

Engagement: lower than most0.85×

Engagement: about average1×

Engagement: above average1.2×

Engagement: way above average1.4×

An exact engagement rate maps to the same four steps: under 1% is 0.85×, 1 to 3% is 1.0×, 3 to 6% is 1.2×, over 6% is 1.4×.

Step 4: usage rights, exclusivity, whitelisting

Usage is charged as a percentage of the content being licensed. Brands license the video content, because that is what runs as ads, so the percentage applies to your video lines. A package with no video prices usage on the whole package instead. Whitelisting multiplies the usage line by 1.25×. Exclusivity is a percentage of the whole content subtotal, because it closes doors across everything you post.

Usage: 30 days+25%

Usage: 90 days+65%

Usage: 180 days+110%

Usage: 12 months+175%

Usage: Forever+300%

Exclusivity: 30 days+25%

Exclusivity: 90 days+60%

Step 5: the package, the rounding, the range

The optional package discount takes 10% off the content subtotal, only when you switch it on. Every line rounds to the nearest $5 under $100 and the nearest $25 above, because a rate card with cents in it is pretending to know more than anyone does. The fair price is the headline. The floor is the fair price × 0.85 and the strong ask is × 1.25, a defensible floor and a strong ask when demand is high.

Questions, answered plainly

How does this calculator price a deal?

It prices the parts, the same way the BravoDM guide teaches: a base rate for each piece of content, adjusted for your niche and engagement, then usage rights, exclusivity, and whitelisting as their own lines. Every assumption is printed on this page. The result is a range with a fair line in the middle, never a single take-it-or-leave-it figure.

The guide's example, Priya, comes to $1,450. Does the calculator match it?

Yes, at the settings on her published rate card: a 25k to 50k following, baseline niche rates, 1 Reel at $700, one set of Stories at $300, and 90 days of usage rights at $450. Set the niche to beauty and skincare and the same package prices higher, because beauty rates run above baseline and her card predates any niche premium. Priya's published card is her personal card at baseline. Rate cards are personal. The framework is the point.

Is this what a brand will actually pay me?

It is an estimate from a public framework, not a promise of what any brand will pay. Brands budget differently, and your own history matters. The value is in the math: when an offer lands below the fair line, you can see which line is missing and answer with specifics instead of a guess.

Why do usage rights cost extra?

Usage means the brand can reuse your content on their page, their website, or in their ads. That is separate value from your post, and it can run long after the post itself is buried. The guide prices it per period, and so does this calculator. Forever is priced highest, and most creators should not sell forever.

Do you store my numbers or need my Instagram login?

No. The calculator asks for bands, never your handle, and it runs in your browser. Nothing about your rates is stored. If you ask for the rate card by email, we store only your email address, through the same waitlist signup as the rest of this site.

What should I do with the result?

Keep it as your rate card and compare it with the next offer you get. If an offer is below the fair line, the breakdown shows what is missing, and the result includes a counter reply you can copy and paste into the thread. If you want a tool that keeps your rate card and checks every offer against it, that is the BravoDM deal desk. The waitlist is open.

A rate card works harder when it is written down before the offer

BravoDM keeps your rate card, checks each offer against it, shows the math, and drafts the reply. You approve every message before anything is sent. Read the pricing guide for the full framework, or join the waitlist and we will reach out as spots open.
