Usage rights
Usage rights are the permission you give a brand to reuse content you made, on their own channels or in their ads, for a set length of time. The content stays yours; the brand is renting the right to use it.
What it means for your money
Usage is a separate product from the post itself, and it is priced separately. A brand can pay fairly for the post and still get the usage for free when the two are never split into lines, which is where creators quietly lose money on deal after deal.
How the pricing model treats it
BravoDM's pricing model prices usage as a percentage of the price of the video content being licensed, by term:
| Term | Model price |
|---|---|
| No usage rights | 0%: no usage granted |
| 30 days | 25% of the video content price |
| 90 days | 65% of the video content price |
| 180 days | 110% of the video content price |
| 12 months | 175% of the video content price |
| Forever | 300% of the video content price |
These are the model's own terms, from BravoDM's published pricing model (version 1.1, October 2026), the same source the free calculator runs. They are a model's starting point, not a market promise.
In practice
- ·Name the term in the agreement: how long, on which channels, and whether ads are included.
- ·When the term ends, the permission ends. An ad still running after it is usage nobody paid for.
- ·Usage asked for in passing, in a message after the price was set, is a new line, not a detail.
An example
In BravoDM's worked example, Priya's Reel costs $700 to make and post, and 90 days of usage on that same Reel is a separate $450 line. The brand's first offer had priced the usage at $0.
